Put Him First
37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
Matt 10:37-39 (NKJV)
When you first read this it sounds like the Lord wants you to take sides when it comes to family and dedication to Him, well He does! You see It’s right to love your family as we all should but Jesus is the Master and he can do far more for us than any of our family members could ever imagine. We are to follow Him and put him first in all matters, I’m learning that by doing so, everyone you come into contact with will be blessed as well as yourself.
For an example I had a task to work on some Kingdom project for the Lord but at he same time a close family member had an event that they wanted me to attend. It was an important occasion but the time was already reserved for me to work on my kingdom project. Disappointment was forecast among the family for my not attending, but the Lord comes first. Afterward all was well among the family and myself. You see God can always turn a seemingly bad situation into a non-event, when you place Him first.
I’ve heard a man of God once say that the Lord told him to move to another town to attend Bible college. But His Pastor tried to talk him in to staying because he was such a blessing to the ministry. He also had relatives that became ill and he felt that he should postpone his leaving to look after them. The Lord spoke to him and said,” If you take care of My business, I will take care of your business”. Praise God , that’s all he needed to hear. The young minister went on to Bible College, his family members were healed and all became well at his old church. All was well because he heeded the call of the Lord and put Him first. This brother today has an anointed ministry that’s becoming well known across the globe. You see when your life is buried in Christ, He has you covered.
1 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:4-5 (NKJV)
